PRIVATE GROUP and PROFESSIONAL BOOKINGS
Each presentation has a particular focus, enhancing our understanding, skills and capacities to support people with cognitive diversity and sensory processing differences. We explore how our responses impact on our relationships at home, at school and at work.
We also provide tailor-made Mind Over Manner workshops upon request for your group's professional development
Mind Over Manner workshops are an effective, time efficient way to connect with others with similar experiences and learn through the use of theatre in an engaging, innovative and inclusive way.

Brett Cronin – Senior Constable - Wellington
It was particularly pertinent as we have noted the increased complexity of the ‘types ‘of Youth appearing in our youth court with varying behavioural diagnosis explaining their behaviour.
Of note; at our monthly interagency meeting, Judge WALSH (Wellington Youth Court Judge), also stating that he was concerned about the intricacies and behavioral complexities of the youth appearing in our youth courts. The Mind over Manner workshop unpacked these types of behaviors and gave a clear insight as to some of the thought processes of these youth.

Teacher
You were terrific on the radio today.  The government should be paying for you to present to every teacher in the country.  Every child in NZ would benefit.

I would definitely recommend this training to workplaces and especially schools.

Parent
I totally recommend any parent with a teenager on the spectrum to go along - even if  just "for a look" - like I originally did. You will leave with a new perspective of your own. ...For us it has been life changing

Parent
My attendance at my first MIND OVER MANNER workshop was a revelation. As a parent of a 12 year old boy with Aspergers and ADD my wife and I had made multiple visits to therapists and life-skill counsellors. But to be able to experience that same valuable advice at a MIND OVER MANNER workshop combined with its powerful actuality of brilliant actors portraying real life, every day scenarios and challenges that families with kids on the spectrum live with made the experience exponentially more effective.

Hi Susan,
I want to say; what a fantastic night and very insightful. THANK YOU.
I will definitely be supporting & promoting this for parents I work with as it was an environment that I feel;  was safe and respectful, with an understanding where everyone was able to voice their feelings, thoughts and experiences without being judged,  as many parents in these situations do feel.
I feel this would also be a great Professional Development Workshop for our school and will be discussing with the management team over the next couple of days.
There were some recommended readings but I wasn't quick enough to write these down, would you be able to share these with me and any other information?
Again, thank you.
kind regards

The workshop has promoted much discussion, renewed enthusiasm and hopefully better practices and understanding too.
I'd be happy to stay in contact.

I recently attended a MOM Workshop in Mt Eden for partners of people with high functioning Aspergers. It was a valuable experience and useful for me, as living with someone with Aspergers can be extremely isolating. Most people do not understand how difficult it is. Reading books has helped but attending a workshop taken by someone who understands and can present ways to deal with living in this situation was even better. I would endorse the attendance at these MOM workshops by anyone living with someone who has high functioning Aspergers.

Parent
was really blown away by Tuesday night and felt it was incredibly powerful.

I thought the workshop was fantastic and I am keen to attend more.  I was impressed by the skill of the actors and I liked the way the scenarios were rewound, explored, repackaged and played again.   I found I empathised strongly with the first scenario, probably because it was a highly emotional situation similar to what we go through and was a raw shock – which was great, there is nothing like raw emotion to anchor learning.  Looking at the other parents I saw the same response – something like this gives hope to parents trying their hardest with only life skills to guide them.

My name is Daniel Procter, I am a Community Social Worker at Stand for Children services, placed in Gisborne. I had the pleasure of participating in a Mind over Manner workshop, where I was amazed by the depth of thought and discussion developed through participation. I felt like I was a part of an experience that encapsulated what it means to connect, the team were able to apply the learning to my context of Kaupapa Maori Theory through applying the universal needs of belonging, mastery, independence and generosity.

I would recommend this experience to others, both professional and whanau, as it allows me to understand children who respond differently to challenges we face daily. I would like to sincerely thank Sue and her team for all that they do, and wish them well into the future, as the best way to predict the future is to create it.

I went to this and it was fantastic.  There was a really good segment on ADHD and ADD type behavior.  I highly recommend the workshops for all parents.

TEACHER
I came with a parent the other night and it was excellent. It provided some simple strategies that we are going to put in place at home and it really helped her to see that she was not alone.

Really looking forward to the next one re the links to school. As I work in secondary schools it is great to get the adolescent perspective. What you are doing is invaluable.

Many thanks
